Seatown Sweets is excited to advertise for the position of Bakery Assistant. Seatown Sweets is a small, independently run bakery specializing in sugar cookies, cakes, cake pops, mini desserts and other sweet treats.

While this is predominantly a front-of-house position, our new team member will be involved in all aspects of the bakery operations. You will learn all about baking processes for our treats, preparation and inventory, producing buttercreams and sauces, buttercream piping and detail work; as well as being responsible for processing, baking, fulfilling and sometimes even delivering special orders. Along with the owner, this position will assist in cleaning up, and opening and closing our small shop.

In the role you will also learn a lot about exceptional customer service and retail support, including online platforms and delivery services.

The role we are trying to fill has a varied schedule but we will work with you to keep your shifts consistent week-to-week.

About the Position

  • Have a Valid WA Driver’s License and form of transport;

  • Must have or receive a WA Food Handler Permit;

  • While no formal education or work experience is required, previous experience as a Bakery Manager or in another operational support role at a bakery, restaurant, or foodservice environment is a plus.

Job Responsibilities

  • Follows Seatown Sweets’ proprietary recipes and production methods with precision;

  • Inventory production including preparing batters, buttercreams, baking cakes, baking cupcakes;

  • Assisting in opening or closing the kitchen and shop;

  • Keep displays and backstock fully loaded;

  • Keep shop clean and organized;

  • Re-stock ingredients when needed;

  • Assist in opening or closing the store;

  • Customer service including greeting customers, taking orders, answering questions, making suggestions, and packaging orders for all walk-in customers;

  • Accept and prepare customer online orders (Door Dash, UberEats, GrubHub);

  • Package pre-orders and have ready for customer pick up/delivery times;

  • Keep food display freshly stocked and clean;

  • Must be available and comfortable delivering cakes and desserts around King & Snohomish County;

  • Keep packaging materials fully stocked, prepped, and organized.

Environmental Job Needs
Time Commitment & Compensation

  • Most of the time is spent moving about frequently. There may be a need to occasionally undertake additional movements, including bending, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.

  • Applicants must have the ability to lift 50lb bags of flour and sugar, and stand for extended periods of time;

  • 15-20 hours per week, Seasonal position starting with a 6 month contract with option to continue on at the bakery based on performance and business growth.

  • $16/hour starting, but will be based on experience + Tips

  • Must be available Monday - Friday 8am to 6pm
